What are Dental Lasers?

A laser is, to put it simply, a narrow beam of intense light energy. There are different kinds of dental lasers, each with its own properties and purposes. At our practice, we use a Gemini EVO laser, which is specifically intended for performing treatments involving the gums. As a diode laser, it is very useful for treating gum disease since it can target the affected area of the tissue without damaging the parts that are still healthy.

Cold Sore & Gum Inflammation Treatment

Cold sores can form on the lips or in the mouth, and they can be quite painful. However, a laser treatment can actually stop a cold sore from breaking out if you act quickly enough. On top of that, if you undergo repeated treatments, you may be able to stop cold sores from appearing in that area again.

Furthermore, if your mouth is in pain due to gum inflammation, we can use a dental laser to help you find relief. Again, a benefit of using a laser for this type of treatment is that it lets us specifically target the areas where inflammation is present while leaving the surrounding tissue alone.
